The SLU Faculty of Pharmacy was founded in May 1871 by virtue of the Modification of the Moret Decree. During the Spanish regime, the course was one of six years. In 1901, when the American administration took over, the curriculum was reduced to four years. Then in 1916, it was further reduced to three years until 1930 when the four-year curriculum leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy was implemented anew. Finally in 1954, Pharmacy was made five years. In 1984, the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy was reduced to four years again with the integration of some courses. Due to the demands in hospitals and clinical practice, the 5-year program for a Major in Clinical Pharmacy was introduced in the year 2006 and having had its first batch of graduates in the year 2011.
