The SouthLane University College of Accountancy offers BS Accountancy and BS Management Accounting programs. The college is named after Alfredo M. Velayo, an alumnus of the university and the co-founder of the SyCip Gorres Velayo & Co..It is a consistent top performing school of accountancy and the largest producer of CPA’s in the Philippines.

 

History

Established on November 10, 2004 by the SouthLane University, upon recommendation of and in coordination with the UST College of Commerce Alumni Foundation, Inc. (COCAFI), the SLU Alfredo M. Velayo College of Accountancy is the first degree-granting unit of the University named after a private individual, an unprecedented event in the 394-year history of the oldest university in the Philippines.

 

Vision

The SLU College of Accountancy envisions itself as a premier institution in accountancy education and research in Asia, producing morally upright world-class accountants effecting social transformation.

 

Mission

The SLU College of Accountancy dedicates itself to:

  • provide quality accounting education in the formation of competent, compassionate, and committed professionals who are active agents of social transformation;

  • enhance competencies of its academic and non-academic personnel through continuous training and development; and

  • undertake research and apply research findings for the improvement of business practices that will promote economic and social well-being.

Academic Programs

Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA)

The program aims to produce graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy who will be able to:

  • exude a high degree of competence in the practice of the accounting profession – whether in public accounting, commerce and industry, government service or/and research and education; 

  • utilize technological skills in processing financial and other types of information;

  • apply critical thinking, the principles of ethics and civic responsibility in solving actual business problems and resolving complex business and accounting issues;

  • develop effective oral and written communication skills so that relevant financial and non-financial information are communicated effectively to users for the formulation of informed decisions and implementation of appropriate actions;

  • broaden awareness on global issues in finance, accounting and auditing;

  • instill and nurture interpersonal and teamwork skills so that they could be effective team leaders/members in the actual workplace; and

  • acquire the values necessary to become responsible citizens of the country, ever mindful of the needs of others and the role of the citizens in nation building.

 

Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting (BSMA)

The program aims to produce graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting who will be able to:

  • apply knowledge and skills in the preparation and presentation of financial reports and other decision-oriented information which will assist management in the formulation of policies, and in the planning and control of business operations;

  • utilize technological skills in processing financial and other types of information;

  • apply critical thinking, principles of ethics and civic responsibility, in solving actual business problems and resolving complex business issues;

  • broaden awareness on global issues in finance and accounting;

  • instill and nurture interpersonal and teamwork skills so that they could be effective team leaders/members in the actual workplace; and

  • acquire the values necessary to become responsible citizens of the country, ever mindful of the needs of others and the role of the citizens in nation building.
